Halba Massacre

No matter what are the reasons that started the fight, we condemn the massacre committed by Future Movement (militia) in Halba against SSNP supporters.

Here’s a video of the massacre. If you don’t have a strong heart, do not watch!

  3. antony, I was expecting Future TV to talk about it but unfortunately they’re trying to hide what has happened and Saad Hariri’s latest statement proves it.

As I mentioned above, it’s not important who started since everybody describes how it started the way that suits them but such murders must not happen. I tried to watch the video several times just to find something to say the murderers are not Lebanese since I couldn’t imagine any Lebanese doing such a horrible thing.
    Such inhuman act is unjustifiable!

  6. Halba Massacre… “I Love Life”

    Zafer Abou Jeij - Executed
    Fadi Al-Sheikh - Executed
    Mahmoud Al-Turk - Executed
    Mohammad Darwish - Executed
    Khaled Diab - Executed
    Mohammad Ghanem - Executed
    Nasser Hmouda - Executed
    Khaled Hussein Ibrahim - Executed
    Ahmad Khaled - Executed
Ahmad Naaous - Died in the clash
Mikhayel Sleiman - Injured in the clash, executed on site by smashing a rock on his head

These are the martyrs of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) that were executed in cold blood in the bureau of the SSNP in Halba, Akkar on Saturday May 17, 2008 at around 3:30 pm. “I Love Life”, what an attractive set of words that mean so much to the Lebanese youth, but to those advocating these set of words, it apparently means nothing. The repulsive nature of this act of brutality is appalling, unethical, and inhumane. The strange thing is that some persons of the “I Love Life” slogan find this massacre amusing and to their liking. The SSNP history has suffered many massacres, torture, imprisonment, persecution, and execution of its bold members since the creation of the party in 1932. But all of these situations didn’t make us passive and frightened, but it only made us stronger, more solid, and more unified than any other time. Is it the problem of the SSNP that it is the only secular party in Lebanon?! Is it our fault if we have a bureau in almost every village, and every single district and province in Lebanon (North, South, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut)? This just shows that the SSNP, the socio-political party of Antoun Saade, has paved its way for 75 years by integrating and intertwining in the complex Lebanese society filled with sectarianism and extremism. The “I Love Life” slogan no longer applies to the political party that committed these heinous crimes against humanity. But rather applies to the rest of the Lebanese public under a new slogan of “I Love Life with Dignity”, which is the way these brave martyrs died, holding there heads up and saying “no” to sectarianism, while fighting for a strong, solid, and united Lebanon. The massacre that took place in Halba will always stay in our hearts and minds for years to come.
