Michel Sleiman Appointed As Lebanese President

After a long time waiting, General Michel Sleiman got appointed the Lebanese president.

Even though it was previously agreed, he received 118 votes out of 128.
6 voted blank, 1 for Nasib Lahoud, 1 for Jean Obeid and 1 for “Rafic Hariri and the assassinated MPs”.

Fireworks and gunshots started being heard.

Beirut: 19 seats

1- District one Ashrafieh and rest: 1 Maronite, 1 Orthodox, 1 Catholic, 2 Armenian = 5 PM seats
2- District 2: 2 Shiites, 1 Orthodox, 1 Armenian = 4 seats
3- District 3 : 6 Sunnis, 1 Shiite, and 3 minorities Christians = 10 seats

Bekaa: 23 seats

1- Baalback Hermel = 6 Shiites, 2 Sunnis, 1 Maronite, 1 Catholic = 8 seats
2- Zahle = 1 Shiite, 1 Sunni, 1 Maronite, 2 Catholics, 1 Orthodox, 1 Armenian Orthodox = 7 seats
3- Rashaya West Bekaa = 1 Shiite, 2 Sunni, 1 Druze, 1 Maronite, 1 Orthodox = 6 seats

EuroVision Song Contest 2008

The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the 53rd edition of the EuroVision Song Contest, which was hosted by Serbia.

I watched this contest because a friend notified me that an Armenian girl, named Sirusho, is participating. Her song (Qele Qele) was great.

In the end, even though Armenia got the most 12 points (from 8 countries) but they didn’t come up first in the final ranking.
