Today it passed through my mind about getting back to blogging but I didn’t have anything in mind and what subject to blog about. So I logged in this blog just to check the stats and to my surprise; after 1.5 years of not using it, it’s still getting visits.

Above is the screen shot of the terms that have lead to this blog from the first day I started. As one can see, anything related to scandals, sexy girls, or beauty pageants are pouring in visitors. Then comes the controversial predictions done by some idiots during the new years eve on Lebanese channels.

And now for my decision. I’m still confused if I should restart blogging and if yes, what should I blog about? Blogging about scandals will get me easy visits with no advertising needed from my end but I’m no more interested about such stuff.
I have another subject in mind which is what I passed through last year and still in it now but I guess I will have to wait for the issue to end so that I start blogging about that subject.

Till then, I try updating this blog with whatever comes to my mind.

تركيا ستتعرض لضغط كبير وعلينا مساندتها

Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned that Turkey will undergo pressure to stop their criticism and go back to their ally, Israel. He also asked his supporters to back Turkey when any pressure takes place.

Is he asking for blind support to Turkey even for the inhuman acts done by Turkey?

Here are some issues that he should consider before making such statement:
- 10,000 political prisoners in Turkish jails
- Kurdish Repression in Turkey
- Children as political prisoners (2008 Human Rights Report: Turkey)
- Just like Israel is carrying a blockage on Gaza, in 1993 Turkey joined the illegal blockade against Armenia in support of Azerbaijan
- Occupying and colonizing the northern half of the Republic of Cyprus, a sovereign country, member of the UN and the EU.
- Imprisonment and assassination of journalists (and their lawyer).

and the list continues…

Even though I have full respect to Sayyed Nasrallah, I can’t accept such request coming out from his mouth.

We supported and condemned what happened to the Flotilla because it’s humanitarian issue without looking into the political gains that the criminal nation of Turkey will be getting from the issue so let’s put politics aside and be humanitarians for once.

Students protesting against tuition fee increase

On Wednesday, over a 1000 students protested outside the American University of Beirut (AUB) against the proposed changes in tuition fees that are due to be implemented next year.

The protest and class boycott continued on Thursday and later on Friday, an agreement was reached.

The protest was organized by the USFC and the students club but it seems that the agreement that  happened between the USFC and the administration was not approved by the whole organizers. Many students are criticizing this move by the USFC on the official page of the protest on facebook.

Here’s the explanation provided by the members:

- The 15 credit policy was a proposal where student were protesting against. USFC’s move gave it the student blessing to be implemented in 2011-12 (although most, if not all, the current USFC members would graduate till 2011-12)

- “assuring restructuring the financial aid system”? this statement is inaccurate. the president’s reply today was as follows:
“An external consulting company (more expenses and room for possible corruption) to STUDY the financial aid system at AUB and PROPOSE reform measures of the current system.”. What if they find that the existing structure is good?

- “All students eligible for financial aid won’t pay the extra 3 credits over and above the financial aid packages”? this statement is inaccurate. the president’s reply today was as follows:

“AUB will extend financial aid packages to cover the cost of the additional three credits for students eligible for financial aid, over and above the regular financial aid package.” (they did not mention ALL students eligible). So it goes back to the same meaning in the earlier message of the president a day after the protest. Nothing basically achieved.

So, please help me find what was actually achieved by the USFC.

An Ethiopian aircraft carrying 90 passengers and crew, including 54 Lebanese, crashed into the Mediterranean sea off Lebanon in a fireball just after takeoff in stormy weather early Monday.

The Lebanese defense minister has ruled out any sabotage act in this incidence. Support teams have been sent from different nations to help the Lebanese army in the rescue operation.

The news sources also mentioned that the parliamentary session scheduled for today (canceled after the crash) has saved MP Nawwar Sahili from the Ethiopian plane crash.

The shocking thing that I noticed today after someone commented on another old post I had was that Michel Hayek guessed this crash in his 2009 predictions (he gives a 18 month period for this prediction).

Few days ago protests started in the North. The reason for the protest was the electricity cut in the region. It seems that they used to get 24/7 electricity but now they are getting 20 hours.

أوضح مندوب “النشرة” ان أنصار لتيار “المستقبل” يقطعون الطريق الدولية في منطقة المنية لليوم الثالث على التوالي، عازلين منطقة عكار، احتجاجاً على انقطاع الكهرباء.
ولاحظ غياب القوى الأمنية عن القيام بواجباتها في فتح الطريق. ما يضطر أهالي المنطقة الراغبين بالوصول إلى بلداتهم أو المضطرين إلى دخول المستشفى أو الذهاب إلى وظائفهم إلى القيام بالتفاف طويل تتجاوز مدته الأربع ساعات.
واشار الى انه عندما حاول بعض المواطنين عبور حواجز المستقبل، قام المعتصمون قام المعتصمون برشق السيارات بالحجارة، مهددين بإضرام النار فيها دون أن تتدخل القوى الأمنية لحماية هؤلاء.

Are they serious?
Do they remember when people were protesting in the Southern Suburbs for getting around 8 hours of electricity per day, what did the future movement supporters do back then? They were against such protests but when they get 20 hours, they do the same!

I’m personally not against such protests since the government and the prime minister should listen to their people. For example, Minister Tabourian, during his term, introduced a logical plan which was going to provide 24/7 electricity all over Lebanon but unfortunately the plan was never discussed in the government meetings since the prime minister back then, Fouad Saniora, didn’t want to. One can think of different reasons like the timing of the plan (before the elections) or personal interests of Saniora’s groups who want to privatize the electricity sector.

Hopefully, the protesters in the North know who made them reach this state.

Almustaqbal newspaper reported that the justice minister will be asking for 28 million dollar which will be used for the International tribunal for Lebanon. This 28 million dollar is 49% of the government’s budget.

After 5 years from the assassination where did this tirbunal reach? Judges changed and the Lebanese did not even know anything about the suspect. On the other hand, how much did our government pay?

It seems we’re investing in a failed project which has no return. Thinking about it a little more, why don’t we invest the money in other yielding projects:

• Can’t we have a part of this amount dedicated to create the DNA data of the detainees in the Syrian jails?
• Can’t we use the money to make our roads safer which will lead to less death rate on the streets?
• Can’t we build more universities and schools, enhance our education system and have free (or lower priced) education?

These are few ideas but wait!
The martyr is more important than the Lebanese detainees in Syria.
The martyr is more important than the 100s of Lebanese who die on the roads.
and the martyr is more important than the 1000s of Lebanese youths who don’t get education because of their family’s financial problems.

Let’s continue like this and see where Lebanon will reach.

Petition for EA Sports to add the Lebanese National Team to NBA LIVE 2011 is another facebook group about petition for some company to do something.

I’m seeing a lot of facebook groups like this but has any of them reached their goal?

Let’s take this case as an example. There are around 2700 members in the group right now but how many of them will buy the original NBA LIVE 2011? then what’s the profit of EA sports to add the Lebanese national team in the game?

Another petition group that I joined right now is PayPal in Lebanon petitions. I 100% agree with them but PayPal have tested the Lebanese and they have found fraud that’s why they have stopped sending money in Lebanon. Any Lebanese can easily create a paypal account and spend it on the Internet but they cannot receive the money.

I personally support these 2 petitions even though we, the Lebanese, have caused enough problem which will make the implemention of both very hard.

- جهة مخابراتية غير لبنانية تتصّل بالسلطات الأمنية المحلية لتعلمها بوجود مخطّط لعملية كبيرة على الأراضي اللبنانية.
- تستعدّ الطائفة الأرمنية الكريمة لإجراء تغييرات دقيقة وحساسّة ببعض المواقع.
- وجه مشهور يرتبط إسمه بطائرة يلفّها الغموض ووجه آخر معروف يلقي القبض عليه على أرض أحد المطارات.
- إثارة ضجّة حول طائرة على متنها ومحيطها مشهد مسلّح.
- تسارع أحداث وأسماء على خط بكفيا – بتغرين.
- إقالة تأخذ شكل إستقالة (ليست واضحة لديّ) من منصب عالي بضغوط ذات خلفيات مثيرة للجدل.
- ولادة حركة أصولية بقلب الجبل الدرزي.
- بلبلة واسعة تُثار حول مجيء شخصية معروفة الى لبنان تصل لدرجة الضغط على السلطات لعدم إستقبالها.
- إعتداء على أبناء عائلة لبنانية من الوسط المعروف.
- قلق شعبي جماهيري على شخصية تحمل لقب رئيس.
- ضجّة واسعة على خط السرّي بين لبنان واسرائيل إثر إنكشاف الهوية الحقيقية لوجه يتنقّل بين البلدين بمهمات خاصة.
- معراب وبعض الرموز المرتبطة بها برسم المراقبة العدائية الشديدة.
- بصورة مفاجئة وبالقوة يتمّ إغلاق مركز تعليمي.

- حركة بالقشرة الأرضية تهددّ مجموعة من البيوت وتخرّب بعضاً من المعالم الأثرية.
- محاولة اسرائيلية بحرية إنتقامية.
- بانتظار الوزير زياد بارود شريط من المواجهات الصعبة تصل الى حدّ التصلّب تنذر بالسوء، والبعض منها يؤثر على صحّة الناس.
- حلقات جديدة من مسلسل المظاهرات في بعض المواقع اللبنانية.
- المردة الى توسّع بذكاء ومن دون تمرّد ومواقف النائب سليمان فرنجية تشكّل حلّ لعقبتين كبيرتين بينما تساهم بتأزيم العقدة الثالثة واللوحة هذه لا تخلي من بعض الخطر.
- فضيحة في كيان ديني تهزّ شريحة من المجتمع.
- ينشغل التيار الوطني الحرّ بمتابعة قصة ذات إرتباط بالنائب ابراهيم كنعان وبأحد الوجوه المعروفة.
- يتصدّر الإنتربول واجهة الإهتمام إثر مواجهته مجموعة من المتورطين.
- قضية قضائية عدلية لا تخلو من مشاكل عنفية.
- رصد عملية البعض يسميّها عملية تهريب والبعض الآخر بعملية مشبوهة.
- تلعب القوات اللبنانية دوراً بارزاً على ساحة العلاقات الدولية.
- أرى الإستاذ نادر الحريري في صورة ذات إطار إستفزازي.
- موكب محاط بحالة من الذعر الشديد.
- الوزير جبران باسيل تحت أقسى درجات الضغط السياسي والكهربائي لكن نسبة النور ترتفع بلبنان بعد موجة مشاكل وفترة من العتم.
- يخّذ الوزير باسيل قرارات جريئة وغير مسبوقة تصل لوضه في مواجهة الخطر.

- أكثر من قرار عفو عن موقوفين ومحكومين تصدر عن السلطات السورية.

- فشل مخططات ضخمة وخطرة تهدف لكسر جناح السنّي عبر ضرب الكيان الحاكم في المملكة من خلال زعزعة الأمن والإستقرار واستهداف المراكز الحسّاسة وصولاً الىرسم بعض الخطط الإنقلابية.
- الخطر الصحّي يتفوّق على كلّ التدابير العنائية والفائقة غير المتخذّة من قبل أحد رموز المملكة.
- إصدار مجموعة من القرارات الملكية لمحاسبة عدد من المسؤولين السعوديين.
- طروحات وأوراق الملك عبدالله بن عبد العزيز تكون الأساس على طاولة يجتمع حولها القادة العرب وموضوع إهتمام الشارع العربي والغربي بصورة غير مسبوقة.
- إهتمام بالغ من قبل السعوديين ومن قبل العاملين بمجال “التمر” باكتشاف فائدة جديدة مهمّة لهذه الثمرة.

فلسطين المحتلّة:
- تنقلب الصورة في فلسطين ببطء ويكون شديداً وعودة الكثير من الحقوق الفلسطينية الى أهلها.
- عدد كبير من المستوطنات اليهودية اليوم ستكون للفلسطينيين بعد فترة.
- اسماعيل هنيّة لا يزال في دوامّة الإستهداف.
- بداية كسر الطوق الأمني حول حماس.
- زيارتين غزاويتين تاريخيتين وتسجيل نقاط لحماس في سجلّ الأسرى.
- بصورة مفاجئة يحصل تبديل في أحد مناصب السلطة الفلسطينية.
- لوحة تضيء شيئاً فشيئاً ببطء في سماء الأراضي المحتلّة وعليها ثلاث عبارات: “القدس وفتح وحماس” وتحتاج وقت طويل لإضائتها بشكلٍ كامل.
- كارثة تحلّ بشخصية فلسطينية خالل تواجدها خارج الأراضي.
- بروز وجه شبابي جديد على الساحة السياسية الفلسطينية.
- تسيبي ليفني وشخصية يهودية ثانية برسم العقاب.

قطر:

- يلمع إسم دولة قطر في عالم الرياضة ما يجعل الإهتمام الرسمي يتركّز تجاهه.

الإمارات:
- كشف مخططّ واسع لضرب الأمن عبر حوادث وتحديات متنوعّة ومتنقلّة.
- حدث ذو طابع ديني يقفز الى الواجهة في الإمارات.
- رغم الهزّة اللاحقة والهزات الرإتدادية نرى الإقتصاد الإماراتي بحركة تصاعدية.
- تعيين شخصية إماراتية لتنوب عن شخصية أساسية لفترة محددّة.

الكويت:
- محاولة فتنة ترتّب أعباء سياسية ذات إنعكاسات دقيقة على سمو الأمير.
- تطويق حادث أمني في مرفق رسمي.
- إتصالات كثيفة وذات مستوى تستطلع على صحّة سمو الأمير.
- مبادرات كويتية تتجلّى بحركة دبلوماسية ناشطة.

العراق:
- رغم كلّ الدعم الذي يحظى به الرئيس نور المالكي يتخبّط بمأزق صعب.
- ضجيج إعلامي حول شخصية عراقية ذات إرتباط وثيق بالرئيس صدام حسين.
